LG G262

As a music-phone, the G262 is equipped with a wide selection of audio features, from equalizer settings to 3D sound reproduction via the onboard dual speakers. Sound quality is generally loud and sharp via the supplied earphones and speakers, though we did encounter slight muffling when playing music with the clamshell closed. The external audio playback keys let users access MP3 as well as camera, slideshow and torch (using the LED flashlights) functions, without having to open the phone.
The triband G262 supports the standard MP3 and AAC file formats for audio and MPEG-4 for video. What’s interesting to note is that the phone records videos up to 30 seconds, without sound. Yeah, you read it right. The LG handset does not support audio in video recordings, which is likely to be an eyesore for some users.
Besides playing MP3s, the G262 comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera and onboard flash. As with most camera-phones, images captured on the LG handset turned out relatively sharp for outdoor day shots but tended to be pixilated and noisy for dimly lit environments, even with the LED lights on. We noted that the phone takes around 4 seconds to start up the camera, which can be a dampener for those hoping to capture candid shots. Users can choose from a selection of six preset frames to add creative touches to their photos.
While the phone comes with just 8MB of onboard memory, the G262 offers memory expansion in the form of a miniSD card slot which supports capacities up to 512MB. This memory limitation may be a minor drawback for some users, though most people should find it sufficient that the phone can at least store about 100 songs (with the 512MB miniSD card).
In terms of connectivity, the LG supports WAP 2.0, GPRS and Bluetooth. The full package includes a USB cable for data transfer and stereo earphones that double as a handsfree kit.
