Motorola KRZR

Motorola KRZR Motorola has struggled to come up with a worthy successor to the RAZR, arguably the most influential phone of the past few years. Its latest attempt is the KRZR K1m, which has the same clamshell design but has some additional features. It has a striking blue finish on the front and the back of the handset is very tactile brushed rubber. Like its predecessors, the KRZR has a laser-etched keypad, but in this instance Motorola has included ridges to make it easier to use. Features include a two-megapixel camera, an MP3 player, a MicroSD card slot and Bluetooth 2.0, which means you can stream tracks from the phone to a wireless headset. Overall there’s not much to dislike about the phone, but its slightly quirky design means that it probably won’t be as huge or as hot as the RAZR.

PCWorld review the Motorola KRZR and writes “Like the Razr, the K1 has a slick external casing–glossy, gray hardened glass on the front; and matte slate-gray magnesium finish on the back, with polished chrome trim. The front also houses a small external LCD and touch-sensitive audio controls that allow you to pause and forward music. I sometimes inadvertently pushed these controls, and there’s no way to lock them; still, they work better than the touch-based controls on LG’s Chocolate (also from Verizon Wireless).

For the most part, the Krzr’s hardware features match those available on the Razr V3m. Both handsets support EvDO networks, can capture 1.3-megapixel snapshots, store files on an optional microSD memory card (whose slot is inconveniently located under the back cover and below the battery), and offer Bluetooth support for wireless headsets. Because the K1m is narrower than the Razr, its LCD is slightly smaller, too, with a diagonal of 1.9 inches, but it’s certainly bright enough.”

Vnunet review the Motorola LRZR and writes “Unlike the RAZR, the new phone has a MicroSD memory card slot so you can store up to 1GB of MP3 tracks with a big enough card. The phone includes 20MB of internal memory, which can handle a few photographs on the camera but not much more.

The camera is another improvement - at two megapixels it’s not exceptional, but good enough.

Still, overall, you won’t be choosing this phone for its features or its operating system - like the RAZR, this is definitely a fashion phone and in those terms it’s another unqualified success for Motorola.”
