The Nokia N73 is described as “a stunning multimedia computer in a compact.†Again, according to Steve Lewis, Director for Multimedia Computers of Nokia AsPac, “(the phone) is the ideal companion for the digital camera lover. Imagine, stunning print quality photos and multimedia are just a slide and click away, ready to be shared immediately.â€
Even though it weighs a slim 116 grams with dimensions of 110 x 49 x 19 mm, the N73 has a large 2.4 inch display from where you can view your photos taken with its 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, integrated flash and auto focus. The N73 has an active lens cover which you just have to slide down to take videos and still pictures.Dedicated capture and zoom keys make it all so easy while a separate review key gives you instant access to all your image files on the brilliant 262K QVGA screen. Moreover, you can enjoy a slideshow with random zoom and pan (called the Ken Burns effect) amidst cool stereo music.
Like the N93, the N73 is also installed with the Adobe Photoshop Album 3.0 Starter Edition which enables one to edit and add effects to captured images. And like the other phones in the N Series, this one takes pride in its intuitive active toolbar which lets you smoothly go from one menu application to the next.
The Nokia N73 has up to 42 MB of dynamic internal memory with support for hot swap miniSD card. Among its features include support for USB 2.0, Bluetooth and infrared; radio; digital music player utilizing most formats; integrated stereo speakers; email (SMTP, IMAP4, POP3) which can accommodate attachments for Word, Powerpoint, PDF and ZIP.
In the true spirit of Web 2.0, the N73 was conceived to let one discover and enjoy the wonders of the internet. It is equipped with Nokia Web Browser with Mini-Map which enables you to browse full web pages on your phone. The browser also supports RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds , podcasts, mobile search and is configured for Yahoo!Go, a mobile application which lets you access Yahoo’s in-demand features like the Messenger, Mail and Photos, among others.
We thought the best thing about the N73 (as well as its siblings in the latest N series range) is its tie-up with Flickr, the highly-popular online photo sharing site. This is made possible with the Web Upload portion in the Gallery Menu. Once sent to Flickr, one can add captions, tags, comments or blog directly with Flickr’s Blog This option. Setting up the online sharing function is easy once you have registered with Flickr and received the log-in information for the device.
The Nokia N73 is available in silver grey/ deep plum, frost whote/metallic red or frost white/mocha brown colors.
