The Nokia N92 is the first-ever dedicated Nokia mobile TV device dedicated to viewing and storing mobile broadcast content, as well as accessing interactive services.
Key mobile TV features:
* DVB-H antenna and engine (470-702MHz; Europe, Middle East, Africa, and China only)
* IPDC IRD category B (H.264 AVC 384kbps@QVGA 15fps/QCIF 30fps and eAAC+ 48kbps)
* Mobile TV application for selection, purchase, consumption, and storage of TV programs
* Support for interactive services
* Mobile TV electronic service guide
* Channel and content protection: OMA DRM 2.0, IPSec rel. w IPv6, IPv6 scalable multicast
* Large, anti-reflective 2.8″ 16 million color display (QVGA 320 x 240 resolution)
* Fold, twist, and stand design and dedicated media keys
* Up to 4 hours watch time, stereo speakers, memory card support up to 2GB
Nokia are saying that the N92 will cost about €600 before tax and subsidies, which in our view offers very good value for money considering how many features it has. Consumer take-up will of course depend on DVB-H broadcasts being available, and quite how many people actually want to watch TV on their phones is an unknown quantity.
