Samsung A930 The SCH-a930 is a mid-range CDMA phone sports a slick clamshell design with an internal antenna, OLED outer display, and media keys on the front. Key features include EVDO high-speed data, a microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera, and a speakerphone.

The a930 features a traditional clamshell design with an internal antenna and a 1.3 megapixel digital camera. The vibrant 176 x 220 color display supports up to 262,144 colors, and there’s also a supplementary 4-shade blue 176 x 16 OLED display that shows call information, signal strength, and more. A TransFlash/microSD memory card slot is placed on the left side of the phone, media player control keys are placed on the front, and a stereo headset jack is placed on the right. Meanwhile, the front of the phone houses the camera unit. A USB data port is also provided.

The Samsung SCH-a930 weighs 3.98 ounces and measures 3.59 x 1.89 x 0.98 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.5 of digital talk time, and up to 200 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies.

Infosync reviews the Samsung SCH-A930 and writes: “The A930 uses the standard V Cast Music player, which includes all the essential controls (play/pause, skip/back, scan within a song) and displays album art, which is a nice touch, although you can’t play music in the background while checking your calendar or composing a text message. Ready to fill the phone up with songs? You can download music over the air from the V Cast Music service (for $2 a pop, 20-second previews available) or use the included USB cable to sync music from your PC using Windows Media Player. While we like the ability to sync our music collection and playlists with the phone (including protected WMA files), the A930 (as with other V Cast phones) won’t play MP3s – you’ll have to convert them to WMA format first, a time-consuming step that will slightly degrade audio quality. ”

CNET reviews the Samsung SCH-A930 and write: “We evaluate the features of the product, both in terms of number and ease of use. A phone with more features will receive a higher rating than a phone with fewer features. On the other hand, while it’s good for a phone to have a lot of features, it’s also important that the features are easy to access and use.”

PCMags review the SCH-A930 and write about the cell phone: “Looking like it was carved from a block of obsidian, the a930 is unabashedly chunky, at 3.6 by 1.9 by 1 inches. Weighing 4 ounces, the solid flip-phone has little rectangular music buttons on its outside and a two-line, blue, text-only external display. Opening up the phone reveals a pretty standard keypad with large but closely set keys and a nicely saturated 176-by-220 color screen.”
