GIPS, 5V Technologies and Gemtek to partner on P2P VoIP application

Global IP Sound (GIPS), 5V Technologies and Gemtek will work together on a P2P (peer-to-peer) VoIP (voice over IP) solution, according to the companies.

5V Technologies will integrate GIPS’s VoiceEngine solution into its VoWLAN system single chips and Gemtek will use the chips to develop a P2P VoIP solution.

Gemtek claimed that there are currently no P2P VoIP system chips in the market. 5V Technologies plans to roll out three chips this quarter and a single-chip solution that integrates the WLAN base-band chip next quarter. Gemtek will benefit from the new products, as it continues to develop P2P products, such as VoIP Gateway solutions and Wi-Fi mobile phones. Since demand for mobile phones with integrated P2P VoIP functions has started to emerge, Gemtek will continue to work with 5V Technologies in developing these kinds of handset modules, the company said.

GIPS Asia Pacific general manager John Fargis said that the company’s sales in the Asia Pacific region will at least double this year and it will continue working closely with ISPs and application developers in the future, while expanding its partnerships with VoIP solution providers.
