August 2nd, 2006 - Posted in VoIPLow-cost international Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls will soon be a reality for users in Singapore.
Internet telephony service provider MediaRing has announced that it will roll out its prefix-3 VoIP numbers, together with its price package, in the third quarter of this year.
Users can use real phone numbers and receive incoming calls from fixed and mobile lines with the prefixes 6, 8 and 9.
The service is fully interconnected to the local telecoms operators SingTel, StarHub and M1.
Previously, VoIP calls, or the routing of voice conversations over the Internet, were limited due to the reception of incoming calls.
Meanwhile, SingNet has launched a commercial VoIP service for its business customers, who can enjoy free unlimited “on-net” calls.
This will start from as early as Wednesday. - CNA /ct
