Mozcom launches pioneer VoIP service
August 27th, 2006 - Posted in VoIPMOZCOM, the country’s first full-service, commercial Internet service provider (ISP) celebrated its 12th year anniversary with the simultaneous launching Thursday of its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service in four key areas in the Philippines - Makati, Cebu, Davao and Baguio City — where the first DSL (Direct Subscriber Line) service was offered in November 1998.
VoIP, as per Mozcom’s press statement, “is a revolutionary technology that has the potential to completely network the world’s phone systems. It uses the Internet as a global telephone network and serves as a platform for taking analog audio signals and turning them into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet and vice versa”.
Called Mozcom VCall, “this VoIP service gives businessmen and entrepreneurs the advantage to use the Internet and make and/or receive calls and/or from outside the Philippines for those important business transactions. With VoIP technology, calls at cheap rates can be made from anywhere that has broadband connectivity, either using a household phone connected to an analog telephone adapter (ATA), a soft phone or an IP phone”.
A contract signing between Mozcom and the Crown Multimedia Integration Systems (CMIS), meanwhile, was led by Beta Gan, chairperson of Mosaic Communications Inc. and Mozcom Inc.; Dr. William Torres, Mosaic president; Matthew Tan, owner of CMIS; David Chua, CMIS president; and Paul Pongco, WAN/Data center management of Mozcom Inc.
To start using Mozcom’s VoIP service, one must create a VCall account. Visit http://www.vcall.ph and sign up for free. The website has step-by-step instructions from creating an account to making calls.
