New Zealand Telecom said Voice over Internet Protocol should become more accessible to businesses.

The carrier will be working with Nortel, Cisco and Zeacom to make it easier for businesses to use VoIP and therefore cut telecommunications costs.

“Businesses are looking for simplicity. This initiative gives many more businesses an opportunity to reap the benefits with affordable, complete IP voice services that don’t require them to develop customised systems,” Telecom GM Wired’s Matt Crockett said in a news release.
