Polycom launches SoundPoint IP 430 VoIP phone
June 17th, 2006 - Posted in VoIPNEW DELHI: Polycom, Inc., provider of unified collaborative communications solutions, has added the SoundPoint IP 430 phone to its SIP based voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) desktop phones portfolio. The newly launched phone is a two-line phone with a full-duplex speakerphone and graphical LCD.
An enterprise-grade IP phone, the SoundPoint IP 430 is designed to meet the telephony needs of general business users – cubicle workers that conduct a low-to-medium volume of calls. “It delivers a robust feature set encompassing traditional telephony features such as call, park, pick-up, hold and transfer, as well as more advanced capabilities such as shared call / bridged line appearance, multiple call appearances, and presence,†said Polycom voice communications division voice market & business development VP Michael Seto.
He added, “The SoundPoint IP 430 offers an easy transition from legacy PSTN systems to the world of IP telephony by providing an intuitive user interface, easy-to-read graphical LCD display, and convenient, one-button access to essential telephony features. With integrated Power over Ethernet circuitry (IEEE 802.3af) and a dual-port 10/100 Mbps Ethernet switch for PC and LAN connection, the SoundPoint IP 430 offers a choice of powering and cabling options to help reduce cabling expenses and cord clutter.â€
Polycom also introduced a SIP 2.0 software release, adding new features and functionality to the entire line of SIP-based Polycom phones, including integration with Microsoft Live Communications Server (LCS) 2005, new telephony features, advanced security, and system management capabilities that reduce deployment costs of IP phones.
The SoundPoint IP 430 is scheduled to begin shipping in late June. Polycom SIP 2.0 software release will be available in late June at no cost through Polycom certified VoIP resellers.
