Tiscali launches VoIP service for free calls
June 16th, 2006 - Posted in VoIPTiscali has launched VoIP service Tiscali Netphone, allowing users to gain access to free PC-to-PC calls.
The VoIP service is not tied to the Tiscali ISP, allowing anyone to download the software and gain access to the free PC-to-PC calls as well as the ability to send and receive faxes, text messages and make low cost international and national calls to landlines.
It has been developed by the Tiscali Lab, an international virtual technology research and development hub across the five countries where Tiscali has a presence.
Calls to landlines are charged at 1p per minute and UK mobiles starting at 12p per minute. International calls from 3p per minute including calls to the US, Australia, France, Germany and Spain.
Tiscali is the latest in a long line of providers to offer VoIP services including US companies Skype and Vonage.
