Hosted VoIP wholesaler, ValueNet, has appointed former Siemens alliances manager, David Healy, as national manager for strategic partners. The position is one of several roles being created to deepen its channel framework.

Healy said his first point of focus would be to bolster reseller ranks. ValueNet currently has 12 partners, most of which retain Microsoft gold status.

“We are looking to encompass larger and more strategic channels; getting partners on board who can give us national coverage,” he said. “We need those with core capabilities around voice and data that can sell these offerings in a consultative way.

“Most of our current partners are mid-sized organisations working more in a local capacity.”

Healy highlighted national integrators, ISPs and smaller carriers as potential channels. All would need strong implementation skills, as well as demonstrate project methodology abilities.

The hosting model would give partners the chance to lock in ongoing revenue streams, he said. It also allowed for partners to bundle extra services around the platform.

“As opposed to projects with one-off margins, this is arguably what all channels are looking to build,” he said.

Healy said the market was ripe for hosted VoIP. Organisations with up to 300 users operating multiple sites had proved the sweet spot to date.

“Other hosted applications are becoming more accepted, such as Microsoft and CRM,” he said. “Hosted VoIP is not that far off from this.”

Alongside Healy, ValueNet has appointed David Helman to the newly created position of senior pre-sales engineer. He was previously a support engineer at Online Communications, and has 15 years IT&T experience.

The company is also aiming to recruit four additional staff, including a senior network architect and provisioning manager.
