Vonage and Cloud offer mobile VoIP
April 28th, 2006 - Posted in VoIPAs a result of the deal when Vonage customers enter an area covered by Cloud’s Wi-Fi network their phone will switch to the internet to make the call, flicking back to their normal carrier when they leave again.
Users of the service will require a special handset, described as slightly bigger than a normal mobile, which will cost GBP80. The service itself will be free to existing Vonage customers, who already pay GBP7.99 to make unlimited internet calls to UK landlines.
Cloud operates in nine locations across the UK including London’s square mile financial district, Manchester city centre, airports, university campuses and major railway stations.
