Mobile WiMAX Launched For Wide Area Of Mexico
August 6th, 2006 - Posted in WirelessUltranet2go, a unit of Zoma Telecomm, officially launched Friday mobile broadband wireless to cover a wide swath of Mexico. The service area is provisioned by equipment from Navini Networks.
Some 3.2 million POPs will be covered in the region, which ranges from Puebla to Veracruz to Aguascalientes. Ultranet2go indicated it could extend the service eventually to Tampico, Matamoros, Xalapa, Coatzacoalcos, Cuernavaca, Chilpancingo and Iguala.
The deployment is based on Navini’s Ripwave MX, which in turn is based on 802.16e WiMAX.
The Navini solution enables users over a wide region to have cellphone-like service activation, which should enable users to get up and running quickly. Users should receive the service virtually anywhere in the region.
